If you only sustained a minor injury (such as sprain, strain, or minor whiplash), you don’t need authorization from your insurer. You may immediately start treatment, and your insurance company will be billed directly.
- File the appropriate forms (AB1). These are available from your PHCP, insurer, or insurance broker. Notify your insurance company but don’t settle the case until you find out if there are any conditions that might affect your life down the road-physically and financially.
- If necessary, hire a lawyer that will work closely with our clinic. It’s important that you don’t provide statements about the accident to anyone other than the police. You should refrain from signing any documents before consulting your lawyer.
